b. When asked how in good conscience she could go and "buy a baby" in Malawi, Madonna said: "Baby? Hell, I bought the country!" You can't imagine how intently I want this story to be true, but I'm not naive, I know that people make this stuff up. But can any of you who may be Madonna's close friends and confidantes confirm this story?
