Unfortunately, Old Chip, you have relied on the Saginaw News for your info about his salary.
As you know a coach's compsensation is a package deal with base salary being only one factor - radio/t.v. shows, shoe contracts, annuities, etc. also being in the mix.
The Saginaw/Frankenmuth News showed $1.1 million as a salary which was nearly double what Floyd Carr makes - however, that is Dantonio's total compesation package (minus certain performance-based incentives)whereas the Carr, Kelly figures were indications of the base salary each receives. Actually, Dantonio's total compensation is a half million less than John L. Smith signed for four years ago.
Rule of thumb - disregard most of what you read in the Snooze.
I think you give good advice, and I accept your explanation. You're our resident expert on things about Spartans, and we trust you.
Some day, I'm going to print a retraction. When the Saginaw "Snooze" does.
